Haris Rauf Set To Feature for Melbourne Stars in BBL 2023-24
Haris Rauf recently got the NOC from Pakistan Cricket Board to feature in the Big Bash League.

Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf is set to make a return to the Big Bash League in the ongoing 2023-24 season. The pacer will be featured in the Melbourne Stars squad as they take on the Perth Scorchers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground today December 13.

The official BBL account posted the update on X, “The return of Rauf”.

Rauf is one of the five additions to the squad from their previous game against the Brisbane Heat.

He initially joined the team as a replacement for star pacer Dale Steyn in the 2019-20 season but later became a key part of the Melbourne Stars’ setup. As Melbourne continues to celebrate Rauf’s return to the setup, the pacer would be looking to make amendments after his poor World Cup campaign in India.

Several fans have reacted to the Pakistani pacer’s return to the tournament. One of them wrote, “Best of luck Speed-Gun Haris Rauf”.

Another recognised his prowess in the T20 format and said, “He is a T20 beast”.

One fan simply posted, “RAUF IS BACK”.

“He is in beast mode”, wrote another.

In the 18 BBL matches Rauf has played, he has scalped a total of 30 wickets.

The Pakistani has achieved this impressive stat while maintaining an economy rate of 7.70.

His first major breakout performance in the tournament was back when he took a hattrick against Sydney Thunder back in January 2020.

He made more impact in the tournament, taking a five-wicket haul against the Hobart Hurricanes.

Melbourne Stars had quite an abysmal start to their campaign with a humiliating defeat against the Brisbane Heat. In that match, the Stars won the toss and chose to field first. Brisbane were on the offensive front from the get-go.

New Zealand cricketer Colin Munro led the charge for his side, remaining unbeaten for 99 runs in just 61 balls during the first innings. He smashed a whopping nine boundaries and five sixes in the game. Munro’s heroics helped Brisbane reach a mammoth total of 214 runs while losing just three wickets.

None of the bowlers made a significant impact in the match. Glenn Maxwell, particularly, had a rather underwhelming showing which saw him give away 44 runs in three overs while scalping just one wicket. The second half of the match did not see any improvement from the Stars as the entire team was dismissed at a mere total of 111 resulting in a 103-run victory for Brisbane.

Mitchell Swepson had the best bowling performance with three wickets in his 3.1-over spell, conceding 23 runs.
