Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzak took a sly dig at the Indian cricket team and said Australia’s win was victory of cricket.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has garnered headlines once again for his jibe at the Indian cricket team. Rohit Sharma’s Team India lost the ICC World Cup 2023 final to Australia on Sunday. Surprisingly, the team that remained unbeaten throughout the tournament succumbed to a 6-wicket defeat in the final and let the Aussies win a record 6th title.

Razzak took a sly dig at the Indian cricket team and said Australia’s win was victory of cricket. Speaking on Pakistan’s Geo TV show called ‘Haarna Mana Hay’, the former all-rounder said that had India won the contest, the game cricket would have been majorly dominated by the country.

“If I am being honest, cricket won. They were using the conditions to their advantage. Had India won the World Cup, the game of cricket would have been dominated by the country. Cricket made it clear that it helps the team who are brave and mentally strong. If India would have won, I would have felt very bad," Razaq said on the show.

The former cricketer further alleged that there was something wrong with the field conditions, especially the tracks, citing the difference in totals put the teams in the semi-final and final.

Aaj ki agar India jeet jaati na to humein bahut jyada afsos hota iss sense mei ki vo conditions ko utilise kar rahi thi. (We would have regretted India’s win because they were utilising the conditions). You see, one semi-final witnessed big totals on the board but the other one and the finale turned out to be low-scoring affairs. So, I think, there’s something wrong with the conditions," Razzaq said.

“The pitches should be fair, the atmosphere should be fair and there should be balance for both teams. India tried to take advantage even in the final and if Kohli scored another century, India would have once again won the match," he added.

Razzaq’s remarks come a day after he issued an apology for making inappropriate comments about Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. Releasing a video on microblogging site X, the former cricket said it was a slip of the tongue for which he apologised to her and all the fans.

“I had a slip of the tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai’s name. I apologize to her personally. I did not intend to hurt anyone. I had to give some other example, but mistakenly used her name," Razzaq stated in the video posted by Capital TV on YouTube.
