World Cup 2023: Wasim Jaffer’s Hilarious Response to India’s Coin Toss Conspiracy Theories - WATCH
Wasim Jaffer shared a video in which one of the players hilariously tossed the coin to a far distance from both the officials and the other skipper.

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has sent cricket fans into a frenzy with his hilarious take on India’s coin-toss conspiracy theories. India are currently on a dominant run in the World Cup with no defeats in the tournament so far. While several fans are happy to see the Men in Blue perform at their highest level, others believe that India’s success has come at the back of some favouritism in coin tosses. Wasim Jaffer seemed to have the perfect response to shut down this theory on X. The former India batter uploaded a video in which one of the players hilariously tossed the coin to a far distance from both the officials and the other skipper. In his post, he wrote, “Hope @ImRo45 does this at the toss tomorrow just to make fun of all the baseless theorists #INDvAUS #CWC2023Final”.

Several fans have reacted to the response with one of them hilariously requesting Wasim Jaffer to stop filling Rohit Sharma’s head with funny ideas. “Stop giving him the ideas. As far as Rohit is concerned we never know what he will do next.”

Another seemed to be confident about India’s chances of winning the trophy. He wrote, “India will lift the trophy”.

One fan seemed to be amazed at Wasim’s imagination. He said, “Wasim sir, I love you and your tweets. No one can match your imagination. I mean no one can. Thank you, sir”.

“And you are a gem in finding such replies,” agreed another.

While India’s success over New Zealand is being attributed to them winning the toss by several fans and pundits, their luck hasn’t been all that consistent throughout the tournament. The team has only experienced a fifty per cent success ratio in tosses at the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The Men in Blue have played nine games in the group stage and a semi-final in the tournament so far. In these matches, India has won the toss once against Pakistan, the Netherlands and South Africa, and twice against New Zealand. Regardless of the results of the tosses, India managed to beat all their opponents convincingly.

However, after India’s triumph over New Zealand, former Pakistan cricketer Sikander Bakht insinuated that India perhaps may be exploiting the toss due to how Rohit Sharma tosses the coin far away from the other captains on the pitch, to deceive and perhaps gain sway over the decision being taken.

“If you see closely enough, whenever Rohit Sharma gets to flip the coin for the toss, he also tosses it far away from the other captain. It is almost far enough that the other captain never really gets to see what the actual outcome of the toss was,” stated Bakht.

Former Pakistan pacer and cricket icon Wasim Akram also weighed in on this controversy and was seemingly disappointed with the logic behind it. “Who decides where the coin should land?” Akram could be heard saying on A Sports. “I feel embarrassed. I can’t even…I don’t even want to comment on it,” he concluded. Other panellists including Moin Khan and Shoaib Malik also rubbished the theories suggesting that they were just baseless arguments to create a fuss.

India now just have one last hurdle to overcome as they take on Australia in the final of the tournament. It will be interesting to see if the Rohit Sharma-led side can finally secure an ICC trophy by winning their third World Cup crown.
