Hyderabad: In another incident of VVIP racism, senior Congress leader Hanumantha Rao had a heated exchange of words with police officers on duty inside Telangana Assembly, a day after Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad assaulted one of the senior Air India staffers on Thursday and bragged about it while talking to media.
The altercation occurred when the police informed Hanumantha Rao that former MPs and MLAs were not allowed at the media point. This angered the Congress leader, and he scolded police officers in front of the cameras.
Hanumantha Rao was heard shouting at the police, "Who are you to stop me?" The police officers, who were humiliated by Congress leader, have complained to senior officials about the incident.
Speaking to CNN NEWS 18, DCP Central zone said, "There is no written complaint until now, but we are inquiring the matter. Our men say he scolded and used bad words. On duty, they cannot be treated badly by anyone."
Defending his actions, ex-MP Hanumanth Rao said, "It's my duty to raise issues concerning the public in Assembly, and I was there to do that."
