New Delhi: Political reactions poured in over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Saturday. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Yogendra Yadav hit back at Modi and said that the Prime Minister is worried about the growing popularity of the party.
Modi in his speech trained guns at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and said that an anarchist cannot run the government. "Have you ever seen a politician who calls himself an anarchist" he questioned. Mocking AAP, he said, "those who have a mastery in sitting on dharnas should be given that work. While those who can run a good government should be given that duty. They can do dharnas and let us handle governance."
He also urged the people of Delhi to teach the AAP a lesson for wasting their votes and "wasting one year by resigning mid-way". He on the other hand promises to bring an end to policy paralysis.
Defending his party member, Yadav said, "I want to tell the PM that another politician who also believed in anarchy as a means was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi."
The Prime Minister in his speech also criticised Congress for ignoring the plight of the poor. He said that the previous government had no will to work for the people.
Denying Modi's allegations Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said, "The BJP government is only working for the rich and not the poor."
"He says there are no allegations on him, we do not believe in targeting anyone, we talk on facts," Sharma added.
