Patna: BJP on Thursday hit out at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the "deteriorating law and order situation" in Bihar and alleged that he "appears to lack political will" in establishing rule of law in the state.

"As many as 2,000 murders have taken place in Bihar in the first six months of the Nitish Kumar dispensation. Besides, there has been a spate of incidents like loot, extortion, dacoity....it appears that the Chief Minister lacks political will to deal with the law and order situation," state BJP chief spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha alleged.

After deliberations on the first day of the two-day state executive meeting of BJP, he claimed perception about Bihar has "taken a beating" due to the alleged involvement of 14 RJD and JDU MLAs in various crimes while the toppers scandal "exposed massive corruption" in education.

Blaming the CM for various "crisis" in Bihar, Jha said the state executive of BJP has adopted a political resolution moved by Leader of Opposition in Assembly Prem Kumar, slamming Nitish for "lacking political will" to deal with issues related to law and order and governance in the state.

"Not only that the law and order situation has nosedived, but implementation of the Chief Minister's seven pledges has taken a hit with the official machinery becoming incapacitated due to lack of direction from the top," Jha said quoting from the resolution.

A number of leaders like Sushil Kumar Modi, Prem Kumar, Nandkishore Yadav and Mangal Pandey spoke at the inaugural day of the two-day state executive of BJP and criticised the "unnatural alliance" of the RJD and JDU.

On Friday's agenda, Jha said the Union ministers from Bihar are scheduled to address the delegates and apprise the state leaders about various achievements of the BJP-led government at the Centre, which recently completed two years in power.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch 'Ujjwala Scheme' in Bihar on June 27, he said, adding the the state unit of the party is likely to complete organisational polls in the districts by the end of this month to clear decks for elections at the state level.
