Jaitley will contest for another term on a BJP ticket from Gujarat while Nadda has been given the ticket from Himachal Pradesh.

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and party general secretaries Ravi Shankar Prasad and Jagat Prakash Nadda are among the candidates nominated by the BJP for election to the Upper House of Parliament.

Jaitley will contest for another term on a BJP ticket from Gujarat while Nadda has been given the ticket from Himachal Pradesh. Prasad will get his fourth term in the Rajya Sabha from Bihar.

Faggan Singh Kulaste, an accused in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam, has been fielded from Madhya Pradesh along with Najma Heptullah, Kaptan Singh Solanki and Thawar Chand Gehlot.

Another party general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan, who was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, will also contest from Bihar.

Party Vice President Vinay Katiyar, associated with the Ram Janambhoomi movement and former BJP Uttar Pradesh unit President, gets another term from the state.

Bhupendra Yadav will be in the fray from Rajasthan, Ajay Sancheti- a close associate of BJP President Nitin Gadkari- from Maharashtra and Bhushan Lal Jhangde from Chhattisgarh.

While these 12 names have been announced today after a meeting of the party Central Election Committee, Gadkari has been authorised to decide on the remaining six vacancies.

NDA ally JD-U is said to be still adamant on contesting on four of the six NDA seats from Bihar. This would encroach on one seat from the BJP's kitty. The latter is trying to persuade JD-U to drop its demand. Deputy Leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha SS Ahluwalia may be fielded from this seat.

Vacant seats where BJP can get its candidates elected are in Gujarat, Karnataka and Jharkhand. The remaining names will be announced on Saturday, party sources said.
