Dayashankar Back in BJP After Expulsion Over Mayawati 'Slur'
UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday has revoked the expulsion of Dayashankar Singh who was expelled from the party after his controversial remark on BSP Chief Mayawati.

Lucknow: UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday has revoked the expulsion of Dayashankar Singh who was expelled from the party after his controversial remark on BSP Chief Mayawati.

He was re-inducted in the party a day after his wife Swati Singh won the assembly polls. Dayashankar's wife Swati Singh, who is also the head of the BJP women's wing, had won the Assembly poll from Sarojini Nagar seat of Lucknow.

"Suspension of Dayashankar Singh has been revoked by party state president Keshav Prasad Maurya", Party spokesman Harish Chandra Srivastava said.

On July 21, 2016, BJP expelled him from the party for his derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati. He marked a new low in politics with his derogatory remark comparing the former UP chief minister to a "prostitute".

"Even a prostitute, when she enters into a contract with a man, sticks to the contract. But former UP CM Mayawati does not follow any binding when selling tickets. If she has sold it for Rs 1 crore and she gets another contender who is ready to pay Rs 2 crore, she would give it away to him," he had said.

Then, the BSP has filed a police complaint in Lucknow, seeking lodging of an FIR against Singh under the SC/ST Act for his derogatory remarks.

Later, the issue was taken up by Mayawati in the Lok Sabha also and later the BJP had suspended Singh, who was holding the post of vice president in BJP's state unit.
