BS Yeddyurappa said he is the reason why BJP came in to power in Karnataka.

New Delhi: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has finally entered Bellary to campaign for the BJP party candidate in a high voltage by-poll. Sulking Yeddyurappa had boycotted all party programmes after his release from Bangalore central jail in a denotification scam.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Yeddyurappa said he was is not against the BJP. He maintained that he is the reason why BJP came in to power in Karnataka.

"No. I am not a reluctant campaigner. It is true that I was not interested in campaigning in this by-poll. But, I am not against party. I brought BJP to power in Karnataka," he said.

He added, "I don't want the BJP to lose any seat. I am not a petty leader or a media creation. I am a mass leader. People will vote for BJP in the Bellary by-poll. People love me. Even the opposition admits that I am the only mass leader in Karnataka, today."

Yeddyurappa said that he is not interested in reclaiming his position as chief minister, but he wants the present state government to complete it's five yera term.

"I have been the Chief Minister twice. Party is in power because of me. I have no such desire to become CM. I want this government to complete five years in office. I am sure it will. There is n question of me working against my party. I quit the CM's chair because I did not want to embarrass the party," said Yeddyurappa.

He said that Justice N Santosh Hegde owed him and the public an explanation for the Lokayukta report because of which he wen to jail.

Yeddyurappa said, "a lot of people owe an explanation to public. Even Justice N Santosh Hegde owes me an explanation. But, no hard feelings. I respect even Governor HR Bhardwaj, who has been my tormentor for the past two years."

Yeddyurappa said that he has not done anything wrong and he went to jail because some of his party members are against him. He believes that people created a conspiracy against him.

"I have done nothing wrong. These are all mere allegations. They can't prove anything in the court. Some of my own party people worked against me. I was writing a diary in jail. I have mentioned all these things in it. Will publish it one day," he said.

On being asked if Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda is just a puppet in his hands, Yeddyurappa said he just gave him advice.

He said, "As I have told you earlier, I am a mass leader. People know that I have been wronged. They come to me seeking my advice and suggestions. I can't say no to them. But, I have no interest in reclaiming the CM's chair once again. Lets see what happens in the next election. The BJP will surely win at least 150 seats, next time. CM DVS Gowda is not a rookie politician. He was state president of the party."

The former Karnataka chief minister said that he did not attend BJP veteran leader LK Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra in the state as he was busy with some personal work.
