Kerala CM faces friendly fire, state Congress chief criticises several government orders

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy is facing friendly fire from none other than state party chief VM Sudheeran. Kerala government's order on several projects have been publicly opposed by Chandy's rival, leaving the CM and the party red-faced.

Orders on Kumarakam Methran Kayal Tourism project and Kochi Kadamakudi project were pulled back and orders on Karuna estate was modified after wide spread protests from opposition and within the party.

"I got the KPCC presidents letter in this, we enquired into this.. according to the information we have The company gave a 1,600 crore project for the IT park. We have not given them permission to reclaim an inch of paddy land. They can use the land only for the said project. If they go against these rules the order will be cancelled," Oomen Chandy said.

But even after defending all these orders the government had to either cancel them or modify them. Along with KPCC president....MLA and PCC vice president V D Satheeshan also asked for the cancelation of orders.

"The opinion of KPCC is that such an order should have been avoided. we have informed the Governemtn, CM and ministers about this. Chief minister has informed the KPCC that the order is modified," Congress state president V M Sudheeran said.

Leaders within the congress say that such controversial orders have affected their credibility and the party's interference was like a shock absorber which prevented further damage.
