Opposition to raise price rise issue in Parliament
The BJP, Left Front along with the Samajwadi Party have decided to target the Government collectively.

New Delhi: Parliament's monsoon session is likely to get off to a stormy start with a united Opposition all set to corner the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government on the issue of price rise, Indo-Pak talks, Bhopal gas leak tragedy verdict, the safe passage to former Union Carbide CEO Warren Anderson.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Left Front along with the Samajwadi Party have decided to target the Government collectively. The BJP will also move an adjournment motion on the price rise issue.

"We have asked for an adjournment motion and if the Speaker allows it we will let the House function," said BJP MP and Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Prithviraj Chavan, however, said that the Opposition was not serious about the issues.

"They are not serious. If they want a discussion let them have it. They just want to divert the attention," said Chavan.

Even as BJP hopes to disrupt the first week's proceedings over price rise, the Shiv Sena wants to make itself heard on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue.

Sources say the BJP is not too keen on taking up illegal mining or the fact that whether CBI is being used as a political tool but the party may raise the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case and the arrest of former Gujarat Minister of state for home Amit Shah in the case.
