New Delhi: The RSS spokesman and its senior functionary Manmohan Vaidya on Monday defended Sangh chief Mohanrao Bhagwat's statement on India's Hindu origin.
Explaining the RSS stand, Vaidya said, "Bharat and Hindutva are akin to the flow of the Ganga which assimilates Yamuna and many other rivers and yet maintains its sanctity and harmonious nature and is still known as the Ganga and has been flowing continuously since time immemorial. The same was conveyed earlier by Ravindra Nath Tagore and S Radhakrishnan too, which was reiterated by Shri Mohan Bhagwat during opening speech of VHP's Golden Jubilee celebrations at Mumbai. He said there 'Hindutva is the identity of our nation'."
Stoking yet another controversy, the RSS chief had said that India is a Hindu nation and Hindutva is its identity. "Hindustan is a Hindu nation...Hindutva is the identity of our nation and it (Hinduism) can incorporate others (religions) in itself," he said.
