The UP Government had said that the statue projects had been stalled.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has rejected the Uttar Pradesh government's reply to its show cause notice on statue construction.
The court said it’s not satisfied with the government’s reply on why construction continued at 7 sites despite a stay order.
The UP government had said in it's reply that no construction has been carried out after the stay order.
The court also observed that the state government is liable for prosecution if it has spent 80 per cent of the budget funds on construction of monuments.
Meanwhile, the interim order restraining the state government form carrying out further construction will continue till the next hearing which is scheduled on October 6.
