According to Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, the party president will return in four to five days.

New Delhi: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday went abroad for a follow up on her treatment for an undisclosed illness. The Congress has emphasised that this is just a routine check up.

Sonia had earlier undergone treatment the first leg of the treatment in August 2011.

She had returned from the US after over a month following a surgery for an undisclosed illness.

During her last visit for treatment, the Congress president had handed over reins of the party to a group of four comprising Rahul Gandhi and senior leaders AK Antony, Ahmed Patel and Janardhan Dwivedi.
