Will PM allow younger brother's wish?
Businessman Surjit Singh Kohli wants to be Congress candidate from Amritsar—Manmohan willing.

Amritsar: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s younger brother wants to contest the Punjab Assembly elections but he will throw his hat in the ring if the PM permitted.

"I intend to contest assembly election from any constituency but I have not received any positive indication either from the Congress High Command or from my brother," said Surjit Singh Kohli, a businessman.

"Unless I receive a positive signal from my brother or party High Command, everything is uncertain with regard to my participation in the assembly polls here," Kohli told PTI.

"All depends upon my elder brother. I have not spoken to him but this is sure that I will not ask him to intervene for me in getting the assembly ticket allotted," he said.

"I am a true soldier of Congress although I have not joined the party so far," Kohli said adding it was party's prerogative to allot him ticket to contest assembly elections.

Kohli claimed Congress leaders in Punjab had encouraged him to contest the polls.
