Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin flagged off the final day of the Alanganallur Jallikattu Games, a bull-taming sport, on January 17. Many celebrities including Tamil actor Arun Vijay attended this competition at Alanganallur in Madurai. Arun was in the city for his film Mission: Chapter 1, directed by AL Vijay. He also interacted with the media regarding the Jallikattu competition. He said, “I am very happy to see Jallikattu, the heroic sport of Tamils, live in Alanganallur. My movie Mission: Chapter 1 is running successfully at cinemas. I had come to Madurai for a theatre visit related to that film.” He added,” I have been wanting to act in a film related to Jallikattu for a long time because it is popular all over the world.” According to Arun, he aspires to act in stories that reflect Tamil culture.
Arun had arrived at the venue with a bandaged hand. When asked about it, the Yennai Arindhaal actor said that he suffered the injury during his upcoming film Vanangaan’s shoot. Arun further said, “I have been on bed rest for two months. I will be fine in ten days”. Arun also rewarded the winners at the Jallikattu competition.
Arun played the role of Guna in Mission: Chapter 1, starring Amy Jackson, Abi Hassan, and others. Critics have appreciated this film, calling it an engaging thriller.
Currently, Arun is at the pinnacle of his career. He has amassed a fanbase by playing diverse and nuanced characters in his acting repertoire. In an earlier interview with the Times of India, Arun said that he doesn’t want to restrict himself to a few genres. According to Arun, action is his strength, but he has so many characters to play and genres to work on. He said, “For instance, I would love to be part of a historical film. I did a cop role for the first time in Kuttram 23”.
