Sonalee Kulkarni, a highly accomplished actress in Marathi cinema, is eagerly anticipating the release of her much-awaited film Mogalmardini Chhatrapati Tararani, slated to hit cinemas on March 22. The historical film’s new poster was unveiled at Ram Mandir in Wadala, Mumbai, during the consecration ceremony of Pran Pratishtha. Sonalee, along with Akshay Kulkarni, the film’s producer Akshay Bardapurkar, and director Rahul Janardan Jadhav, graced the occasion, which also included Shri Ram Puja and Havan performances. Sonalee, adorned in a white Paithani saree, shared glimpses of the ceremony on Instagram.

In the unveiled poster, Sonalee exudes fierceness as a warrior, wielding two swords and dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire. Fans expressed their admiration for Sonalee’s look, flooding the comment section with fire emoticons.

The film is a collaborative production by Planet Marathi, Black Hangar Studios, and Creative Vibe Productions. Chhatrapati Tararani narrates the story of the Maratha queen Maharani Tarabai Bhosale, based on the book Mogal Mardini Tarabai written by author and historian Jaysingrao Pawar. Sudhir Nikam has contributed to the story, screenplay, and dialogues of this directorial venture by Rahul Janardan Jadhav. Additionally, the film is expected to be dubbed in Hindi and English languages.

Sonalee is also expanding her cinematic horizons beyond Marathi cinema with her debut in Malayalam cinema through the film Malaikottai Vaaliban, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. In an exclusive interview with The South First, Sonalee shared insights into the challenges of learning Malayalam for the film.

She expressed, “The toughest part was to learn the language. The workshop focused mainly on language training, especially the dialogues. You can’t learn Malayalam in a week. So, I limited myself to learning my dialogues. Learning the nuances, grammar, punctuations, stresses, and pauses in the Malayalam language was interesting.”
