Woman dies, irate relatives ransack hospital

BERHAMPUR: Tension ran high at the Kabisuryanagar hospital on Wednesday with irate locals ransacking the hospital alleging medical negligence leading to death of a woman. The deceased has been identified as Sunita Barad (20) and she was admitted to the hospital on Monday for delivery. Later in the night, she gave birth to a baby girl but her condition deteriorated due to profuse bleeding.On Tuesday, she was shifted to MKCG Medical but doctors declared her brought dead. Her family members then took the body back to Kabisuryanagar. Alleging that she was not given medical help in time at the Kabisuryanagar hospital, her relatives along with locals gheraoed the hospital and ransacked it. Stating that she had died due to negligence on the part of the hospital staff, they demanded compensation to the bereaved  family.The agitators were pacified after the promise by the authorities concerned to inquire into the case. The local tehsildar paid  Rs. 5,000 to the family from the Red Cross.
