0Adivi Sesh left everyone emotional and proud last year with his movie Major. The film presented the bravery of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who sacrificed his life during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. As we mark 15 years of the tragic 26/11 attacks, Adivi Sesh remembered Major Sandeep in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha.

Sesh shared that while they were working on the 2022 movie, they made sure to present the emotional aspect of Major Sandeep’s life. “It was necessary for us to only make an emotional commentary and not political. We made a film about his life. The truth is, we were very particular about conveying that the movie is not about the way he died but the way he lived,” he told us, adding, “He was not political. He was rebellious. We were very clear that we wanted to show Major Sandeep’s emotions.”

Sesh further expressed that the more he learned about Major’s life, the more he changed as a person. “The audience knows that the film released in 2022 but for us, it is a journey for five to six years. I have been a fan of Major Sandeep Unninkrishnan from my childhood. I used to follow his Orkut page. It has been an emotional journey. I think, my filmography will always be before and after Major. It changed me as a human being. I can genuinely say that I am much more empathetic towards other people because of this film, because of him,” he said.

The 38-year-old actor called Major his ‘dream project’ and mentioned that he was very happy with the success of the film. “It was my dream project. It’s like I was offering this film to people. I was happy that a popular actor like Mahesh Babu was producing it. Major’s life spans all over – Haryana, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kashmir, Kerala. All these things are shown in the film. We were happy about the success of this film,” he said.

Today, on 26/11, Sesh will be travelling to Mumbai to attend Major Sandeep’s memorial. He will also be joined by the martyr’s family. Ever since the movie hit theatres, Sesh has been in touch with Major’s parents and considers them as his own family. “I spoke to them just yesterday. I will be flying to Mumbai for the memorial with uncle and Amma (Major Sandeep’s parents). I will be with them. It is not just a formality or duty, it is fundamental. They are a family to me,” he added.
