HYDERABAD: Decks have been cleared for the much-awaited promotion of eight IGP-ranked 1987 batch IPS officers as additional DGPs.The screening committee comprising chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, principal secretary (home) P Gautam Kumar and DGP V Dinesh Reddy, which met on Tuesday, has cleared the file pertaining to the promotions due for the last few months. As many as 11 DIG-ranked 1994 batch IPS officers will also be promoted to the IG rank, as the files related to their promotion was also cleared by the committee. With eight more IPS officers being promoted to the rank of additional DGP, large scale reshuffle in the police top brass is in the offing and is likely to take place within a week, said sources. The officers who were promoted include AR Anuradha, VK Singh, TS Tripathi, Santosh Mehra, NV Surendra Babu, Satyanarain, BL Meena and M Gopi Krishna.Meanwhile, the promotions of the 1979 batch IPS officers from additional DGPs to DG rank in one go appears to have hit a roadblock, which is likely to delay the posting of the promoted 1987 batch officers.Sources said though chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had directed that all four officers be promoted to the rank of DG in one go, the Centre has written to the state government asking that promotions to be taken place one by one, as and when vacancies in that rank arise. With this, the file pertaining to the promotions is being recirculated in the department, sources said.At present, only one post of DG is lying vacant after IPS officer M Ratan retired from service. The second vacancy would arise in April when KR Nandan retires.
