New Delhi: Amazon is doing away with the requirement of a minimum value order as it extends its free shipping service to smaller items in its web store.
The online shopping portal is introducing a new initiative under which it will ship smaller items like makeup, mobile phone accessories, and earplugs for free without the minimum order requirement.
A report in Bloomberg notes that the new service will be applicable to all customers, including non-Amazon Prime subscribers, as it aims to target cost-conscious shoppers.
The e-commerce giant recently rolled out its Amazon Prime service that offers members to get same-day delivery of products and services for an annual cost of $99. However, this new initiative is going to help Amazon target a wider pool of customers and market its services.
Amazon had started the trial run 13 weeks ago but introduced it formally this week after it noticed that items targeted for free shipping without a minimum order threshold sold more quickly than they had previously.
