Apple Music users enjoy the platform for its features and the Apple experience but in case you are eager to move out and look at other platforms, now is the right time to do it. For the first time, Apple Music users have an official way to move to YouTube Music or vice versa.
Apple and Google have been warming up to these kinds of deals lately and both the music streaming apps are a sign of their recent association. The switch is only possible between these two apps, so if you were giddy to become a Spotify convert, tough luck.
Apple Music To YouTube Music Transfer – How It Works
Apple Music users can transfer their playlist but there are many files that you cannot move to YouTube Music. Before going into that, here are the steps that gets you moving from Apple’s streaming app to YouTube Music
– Go to Apple’s Data and Privacy page
– Sign into your Apple ID account
– Click on Transfer a copy of your data
– Follow the next steps and complete the transfer request
– Now, sign into your YouTube account on the Music app
Apple will send you an alert on the registered email ID highlighting the transfer in progress. The company will also confirm when the transfer is complete
Once these steps are completed you will see the Apple Music playlist in the YouTube Music library as well. The platform explains that the songs transfer will only work if the track is available on both the apps. The updates in a playlist won’t show up on the other app after the transfer. In case you cancel the transfer in between, the tracks that have already moved will show up on the other app as well.
Apple also highlights that you can only transfer playlists during the process, music files do not go through and even non-collaborative playlists will be available on the app. And yes, it goes without saying that you need an active subscription on Apple Music and YouTube Music for the transfer to happen.
