Google is powering Gemini AI to be its Siri rival in the market and the company is looking to make it compatible with third-party apps like WhatsApp in the near future. Gemini is already replacing Google Assistant on the latest Android phones as the option which lets them set reminders or search for items on the internet. But Google wants further integration of Gemini much akin to Apple’s Siri native support for its apps and more.
Google Gemini Working With WhatsApp – How It Might Look
The traces of Gemini working with WhatsApp has been spotted by folks at Android Authority through the unreleased APK file of the beta version. The report even claims that Gemini could also work with Messages app and Spotify as well.
Google is likely to add a new toggle option in Device settings which will allow you to work through the popular messaging app using your voice. In fact, the APK details suggest Gemini could work with your phone’s notifications as well, and help you make calls on WhatsApp just by asking the voice assistant to select the contact and start the call.
Gemini AI is Google’s big bet against the AI-powered Siri that Apple will be offering with the iOS 18.1 update for iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. You also have ChatGPT’s voice mode offering similar tools but only for the paid users right now. Samsung is already showing its interest in bringing the AI features to older mid-range devices which helps Google to increase its reach and Gemini AI usage in the future.
The Android 15 update seems to be the destination for these supposed Gemini AI features and with an October release mooted for the new Android version, we might hear more about these third-party integrations for Gemini in the coming weeks.
