A new report reveals that a large majority of parents believe that technology has a positive effect on their children while a little more than half admitted that they've learned a trick or two on how to use their digital devices from their kids.
Released from the Family Online Safety Institute in the US, the report entitled "Parents, Privacy & Technology Use" is based on the responses of 589 Philadelphia parents of kids aged 6 to 17.
Overall, 78 per cent of parents polled agreed that technology has a positive effect on their child's future, career and life skills, and another 64 per cent said it's also fostering their kids' creativity.
The report also found that tech-savvy and educated parents demonstrate more confidence in overseeing their children's' technology use compared to parents who are less educated.
Interestingly, a large part (64 per cent) said they don't impose parental controls on their kids' use of tablets or phones, citing trust or already-established house rules.
About a third of parents also admitted to making friend requests with their kids on Facebook.
And 54 per cent of parents admit their children have taught them how to use new features on their digital devices.
