Fans Left Stunned After X-Rated Video Played on Giant Screen at Cordoba Open
An X-rated footage seemed to play on a screen inside the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes during the Cordoba Open.

In a bizarre turn of events, tennis fans were left in utter shock after a pornographic video was played on the giant screen at the ATP 250 Cordoba Open, which marks the start of this year’s Latin American claycourt proceedings. The peculiar incident occurred on the opening day of the competition on February 5. As per a report published by The Sun, the X-rated footage seemed to play on a screen inside the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes grounds located in Cordoba, Argentina. The article went on to claim that reports in Argentina stated the footage was played for several minutes and the tournament organisers have not yet offered an explanation. The clip was reportedly played in front of a small section of fans present next to a food and drinks area outside one of the courts at the venue in Cordoba. World number 78 Thanasi Kokkinakis also reacted to the incident on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

“Hahahaha I’m done,” Thanasi Kokkinakis, the 2022 Australian Open doubles winner, wrote along with two laughing face emojis while replying to a post on X.

This year’s Cordoba Open is quite special as it features 13 players in the main draw, a feat not witnessed since the French Open back in 2009. The competition was organised for the first time in 2019, with a prize amount of £511,000 up for grabs.

Among the players set to enjoy home advantage at the Cordoba Open this time, three are now ranked in the top 30- ‘Fran’ Cerundolo, ‘Seba’ Baez, and ‘Tomi’ Etcheverry, who defeated Andy Murray in the first round of the Australian Open last month. Big names like Diego Schwartzmann and the 2021 champion Juan Manuel Cerundolo will also feature in the competition played in Argentina.

Coming back to on-court developments, Cordopa Open 2022 champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas got the better of Argentina’s Pedro Cachin 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the first round of the competition on Monday. The unseeded Spanish tennis player succeeded in converting four of six break points and won 18 of his 29 second-return points against Cachin. Vinolas went on to win the game in 2 hours and 5 minutes.
