The 2024 Wimbledon Championships are scheduled from June 24 to July 14.

Tennis, believed to be one of the oldest sports, has millions of fans worldwide and Bill Gates is one of them. In his personal blog and in interviews, the philanthropist has mentioned that he includes tennis as part of his fitness routine. Over the years, he has also been spotted attending prestigious tennis matches. In his latest Instagram post, the Microsoft co-founder shared a photo of him taken in the middle of a tennis match. He cheekily captioned this photo as, “Somehow, I didn’t qualify for Wimbledon. But there’s always next year!” This post got over 25,000 likes within hours.

In his Instagram story, he reposted a video from the ongoing Wimbledon match and wrote, “I guess I’ll watch some incredible tennis instead.” The ongoing 2024 Wimbledon Championships are scheduled from June 24 to July 14.

Bill Gates has previously taken part in the Match for Africa series started by Swiss player Roger Federer as a fundraising event. These celebrity tennis matches are held to raise funds for the Roger Federer Foundation, which works to improve the educational opportunities for low-income kids. Bill Gates partnered with Roger Federer in the 2017, 2018 and 2020 editions of the Match for Africa series.

Back in March 2018, Bill Gates paired with Roger Federer in a doubles match against broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie and Olympic medalist tennis player Jack Sock. Bill Gates and Roger Federer won the match with the score of 6-3.

Bill Gates shared a photo from the match in which he is seen giving a high five to Roger Federer. He wrote, “Last night I got to do what every tennis fan dreams of: play on the same side of the court as the greatest tennis player of all time. Roger Federer and I teamed up for a mixed doubles match against Savannah Guthrie and Jack Sock at the Match For Africa in San Jose.”

In March 2024, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation collaborated with the charitable wing of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), which legendary player Billie Jean King founded. The organisations unveiled the Women Change the Game campaign that utilises tennis for philanthropy to improve women’s health and nutrition. The funds, which amounted to millions of dollars, were gathered by sponsors of the WTA Tour.
