You’ve probably heard of yoga and its many benefits, and if you spend a lot of time on the internet, you may even be familiar with quirky trends like goat yoga. But have you ever heard of snake yoga? Yes, you read that right! Imagine finding your inner peace while a snake gently slithers up your back. This unusual practice is now a reality for anyone looking for a truly wild twist on their wellness routine.
LXRYOGA, a unique yoga studio in Costa Mesa, California, is making waves with its daring and unusual offering: snake yoga.
If you think this practice sounds a bit too wild, that’s exactly the point! The studio specifically caters to people who are afraid of snakes, helping them overcome their fears in a relaxed, controlled environment.
When you arrive at the studio, you’ll pick out a special stone to keep as a keepsake. The studio has eight friendly ball pythons, each of which corresponds to one of these stones. The snakes are all named after crystals.
Participants randomly draw a crystal to determine which snake will be their yoga buddy for the day.

“Some may say what we offer is a gimmick, like other yogas with animals, but we believe in what we offer,” said Tess Cao, co-owner of LXRYOGA, to the People.
According to Tess, these ball pythons are “very social and friendly,” and the studio takes special care to keep the reptiles calm and stress-free. Before the yoga class begins, there’s even a briefing to show participants how to interact with the snakes safely and mindfully.
Whether you want to overcome your fears or just try something unusual, snake yoga at LXRYOGA promises an unforgettable and calming experience.
Last month, a video featuring an unconventional yoga practice has sparked outrage online. Posted by content creator Jen Zhang on Instagram, the clip showcases the unique session of “snake yoga” involving ball pythons, which has drawn criticism from social media users who have called the act, animal abuse.
In the video, Zhang provides a detailed account of her experience at a yoga centre where participants engage in yoga routines while handling ball pythons.
