'Charge Till 80%': Ex-Apple Employee Lists Tricks To Save iPhone's Battery
The former Apple employee shared tricks for battery-saving hacks for iPhones. He suggested to maintain the battery level at 80%.

iPhone users have often expressed frustration over the device’s short battery life. However, a former Apple employee, Tyler Morgan, who previously worked in sales for Apple, has been sharing intriguing tips and tricks for increasing iPhone battery life. At the time he was in sales, Morgan posted videos on TikTok, unveiling secrets that Apple does not want its customers to know, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In December 2023, he offered valuable battery-saving hacks and efficient iPhone usage tips on TikTok, targeting users who frequently use their phones throughout the day.

According to The New York Post, Tyler Morgan advises users against fully charging an iPhone or leaving it plugged in overnight. Additionally, he suggests turning off Bluetooth and background activity. Morgan recommends limiting the battery charge to 80 per cent because batteries chemically age when they reach full capacity.

“Go to Settings, Battery, Battery Health, and Charging, and enable [charging optimisation]. If you want to be extra cautious, set it to 80%,” Tyler Morgan said in his video as quoted by The New York Post. Tyler Morgan added that if you charge your iPhone overnight, your battery receives a four-fold boost because it remains plugged in for six to eight hours.

Tyler Morgan also advised iPhone owners to disable background activity, which prevents apps from running while not in use. This can be done by navigating to Settings, selecting General, and then Background App Refresh. From there, users can see a list of background apps that can be turned off. Additionally, when the iPhone is set to Low Power Mode, all activity ceases.

Disabling this feature means you won’t receive notifications from apps like Instagram and Facebook, but it will help conserve your battery life. Tyler Morgan then proceeded to provide numerous other tips for reducing the rate at which an iPhone battery drains, as reported by The New York Post. He advised turning off location services for apps when not in use.

To view the apps that have requested permission to track you, go to Settings, then select Privacy & Security, and finally tap on Tracking. From there, you can enable or disable permissions for any application on the list. To prevent all apps from requesting permission to track you, simply turn off the option labelled “Allow Apps to Request to Track.”

The TikToker also suggested lowering the phone’s brightness and disabling Siri. However, for Bluetooth to stop working, users must disable it in settings. He concluded by admitting that while following these tips would likely ruin your phone experience, they would effectively reduce the amount of battery used.
