Reading a book is not everyone’s cup of tea but for the ones who do, it is a personal achievement. Local18 exclusively reports about a man who has read thousands of books, only in the last few decades.
He is Amal Kumar Jha, a local of Madhubani, from the state of Bihar. As per the report, he visits the library daily to issue a book for reading. For the last four years, he has been honoured for his extensive reading habits, because of which he secures the first place each time. He has read numerous literature books, not limited to the languages of Maithili and Hindi.
Amal is a resident of the Sarisab Pahi village, Pandaul Block, a man who simply loves reading books. His craze of book reading has made him an honourable figure among the locals. A unique type of competition takes place in the village, according to which whoever reads a book from the library, has to participate in a test by year’s end.
According to Amal Jha, reading has been his favourite habit since he was a child. So, for the last 35 years, he has taken up reading continuously. He has read 105 books published by the Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh Kalyani Foundation, and in total, has read around 35,000 books so far. He revealed further that most people in Madhubani visit a library and like to engage in the reading activity.
Amal has read books on Maithili, Hindi, Bengali and English literature, along with history and books of law. Naturally, as a dedicated book lover, he has built a personal library at his home. Amal Jha told Local18 that apart from Kalyani Foundation’s books, he has read books under Shekhar publication, Anupras publication and Navarambha publication. Instead of buying books, he believes in visiting a library to read. Some of his favourite books include Mirror Tirhut, Mithila Darpan, Bihar Darpan and Bhagalpur Darpan.
