If the turmoil caused by ticketless passengers in the second AC compartment of trains wasn’t enough, a recent video has emerged, depicting a similar situation in the high-class first AC coach. Shared on the micro-blogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), a woman named Swati Raj showcased the plight of the Sikkim Mahananda Express, with individuals without confirmed tickets filling the passage.
In her uploaded video, Swati highlighted the crowded corridor with dozens of men standing shoulder to shoulder. She expressed her frustration, questioning the value of paying so much when the compartment is filled with ticketless passengers, depriving paying customers of peace and fresh air. In her words, “This is the current situation of AC 1st tier in Mahananda 15483. I request management to check this immediately as we are not feeling safe when we are paying extra for it.”

Responding to suggestions from commentators to contact the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Swati explained, “We did contact them on 139, RPF came in one of the station to clear the rush but the stoppage was only for 2 mins so he couldn’t come inside to clear it. The problem is RPF should be present inside train to handle these kind of situations. From outside they cant do much.”

Comments poured in, reflecting shock and disgust. One user stated, “After paying a high price, the passengers face such troubles from trespassers. This is a shameful failure of Indian Railways.” Another added, “This is ridiculous. Must stop this nonsense immediately. How the hell can these people confidently board a train without a pass? And that too enter 1st Ac compartment?”
Even @RailwaySeva responded to the viral clip with what seems to be an automated message, saying, “We request you to please share the journey details (PNR/UTS No.) and Mobile No. with us preferably via DM. You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal.”
