Sudha Murty was asked during her session with her husband, Infosys co-founder Narayana murthy, what advice she would provide to young couples who are driven professionals and want to have a good, supportive family life.

Engineer-turned-philanthropist Sudha Murty shared some useful advice with young couples on March 15 during a session titled ‘Modern Love: The Fascinating Journey of the Infosys Couple’ at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi. Sudha Murty was asked what advice she would give to young couples who are driven professionals and who also aspire to have a solid, supportive family life, during her session alongside her husband, Infosys co-founder Narayana murthy.

“When you are married, you are bound to fight. Accept that. If you have never fought, then you are not husband and wife. When you fight, and one person is upset, the second should be cool, and should not open their mouth,” Sudha Murty said at India Today Conclave 2024.

“When Murthy is angry, I will never talk. Let him pour out. I will not talk. When I am angry, he keeps quiet. In real life, I keep quiet most of the time. You should never get upset together because that is the recipe for further fights,” she added.

Further explaining her above statement, Sudha Murthy said life is a process of giving and taking. No life or couple is perfect. Some positive, some negative. The man comes with his plus and minus, and so does the woman, and everyone should accept that.

Towards the end of her answer, the philanthropist advised all men to help their better half in the kitchen. “I want all men of this generation to help their wives in the kitchen. It is very important. Your wife who is an engineer should come back and cook as well as attend meetings, that should not happen. You have to share the burden of your wife. Then only the family can be happy and grow,” Sudha Murthy noted. She also mentioned that when both can have aspirations then it is important to share the burden as well.

During the session at India Today Conclave 2024, Narayana murthy recalled meeting Sudha Murty at a juice shop in Pune and singing Dev Anand’s classic 1961 chartbuster – Abhi Na Jao Chhor Kar for her.

On the other hand, Sudha Murty took oath as Rajya Sabha MP on March 14, in the presence of her husband, N R Narayana murthy. The oath was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar in his chamber at Parliament House. Piyush Goyal, the Leader of the House, was also in attendance.
