Tourist Slaps Winnie The Pooh Mascot At Shanghai Disneyland, Sparks Outrage
The footage from Shanghai Disneyland shows the Pooh mascot walking through the crowd when a man unexpectedly hit the beloved character on the head.

A shocking incident happened at Shanghai Disneyland when a man assaulted a Winnie the Pooh mascot. The footage, originally shared on Chinese social media, shows the mascot walking through the crowd and wave, when the man, wearing a striped T-shirt and carrying a black backpack, unexpectedly hit the beloved cartoon character on its head. To everyone’s surprise, the tourist was caught laughing. Along with staff, other visitors were not pleased with his actions. The video later shows the mascot collapsing on the ground, while staff rushed to help the performer. After getting up, the performer was seen holding the mascot’s head and quickly leaving the scene.

According to South China Morning Post, the amusement park’s management confirmed the incident and claimed that the artist dressed as Pooh suffered no serious injuries. Although the tourist faced consequences, the park refused to reveal the exact action taken on the man. Disneyland further highlighted that their characters often interact closely with guests and there are no barriers to separate them. Despite this incident, the park has no plans to change their policies.

On the other hand, Fu Jian, a lawyer from Henan Zejin Law Firm added that if the performer was injured, the unruly visitor could be held responsible for both medical and emotional damages. Authorities can also take action by issuing warnings, imposing fines or even short term detention for creating disturbance. Fu also recommended that visitors showing such illegal behaviour should be banned from entering the park.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Why did he do this to pooh.”

Another shared, “This is dangerous. The head covering alone weighs 8 kg, and it is difficult just to support it with the neck, but if an external impact is applied to it, in the worst case scenario, it could cause cervical vertebrae injury.”

“Wow, I never thought I’d see the day. Someone’s got a serious beef with honey and friendship,” a comment read.

An individual shared, “The person who hit the head probably doesn’t have a brain.”

One more added, “I wonder if his neck was okay? That grinning old man has a really bad personality. I don’t want people like this to come to the land of dreams.”

Since the video was shared on X, it has garnered over 22 million views.
