People fond of travelling prefer to check in at a hotel room with a view. When someone is visiting the coastal area, the most preferable room would be with a sea face, so one can enjoy and unwind while witnessing an epic sunrise or sunset and look at the waves. A woman traveller did the same during her visit to Westerland in Germany.
A travel influencer, Sonja Dennig reportedly got “catfished” on a vacation after she booked a sea-side facing room in a hotel, only to reach there and discover that she had been scammed. Sonja booked accommodation on Westerland on Sylt, an idyllic island in Germany’s North Sea for a weekend getaway. But as soon as she turned up at the hotel, she realised she had been duped. The scenery which she saw online, turned out to be a photo.
Sonja Dennig was in utter disbelief when she reached the hotel and saw that it was just a seaside poster hung over a basement window. The light near the window added a shine as if it was sunlight and hence, the woman fell prey to the optical illusion it created and booked the room.
While booking she thought, “Wow, what a great view I have”. But the reality was far-fetched and in an interview with a news portal she said, “…it was just a photo. We are just in the basement.”
She also joked, “You’re in bed, it’s midnight, but you think it’s either evening or morning sun. It’s pretty amazing.”
Previously, an Argentinian travel influencer fell prey to something similar. While planning a vacation and booking a hotel accommodation, she too wanted a room with a sea view. Clarisa Murgia was on a trip to Italy and booked an expensive room for a great view. However, later it turned out that she had fallen prey to a false promise. It was a wall poster of a building on the other side of the road.
