Cuisines from different parts of India have reached places. Be it the most popular butter chicken or dosa, Biryani and more, the world has been loving Indian food and many have also been trying to master it. We have landed upon one such video that has gone viral for all the right reasons. This time, a food vlogger has tried recreating an Indian thali from Maharashtra. While Maharashtrian cuisine is already famous for its twist of spice and tangy jest, we surely can’t have enough of it. From the delicious vada pav to soft kanda poha, we love it all. Now, we have found a British person who not only loves this cuisine but also is trying to cook it.

A UK-based chef named Jake Dryan often shares glimpses of himself preparing Indian food. Most recently, he prepared a Maharashtra-inspired spread for his girlfriend’s flatmate. On Wednesday, Jake uploaded a video showing the entire meal prep on Instagram. The clip begins with the text, “POV: Your girlfriend’s flatmate has been asking to try your Indian food.”

Jake’s video starts with him preparing thecha, a spicy dip popular in Maharashtra. He heats oil in a pan and adds cumin seeds, garlic cloves, green chillies and peanuts. After cooking, he blends everything into a paste.

Next, Jake makes a batata vada. He peels, cuts and boils potatoes. Then he goes on to cook some garlic and green chillies, turmeric, curry leaves and pieces of the boiled potatoes. He mashes and cooks it and then transfers it into a bowl. He prepares a chickpea batter and after making balls from the potato mixture, dips them in the batter and deep fries them.

Jake then chops some green beans to prepare a sabzi. He prepares tadka with onion and spices, then mixes it with the chopped beans. He then boils some red masoor dal. In another pan, he heats ghee and adds chopped garlic and a red chilli, followed by some chopped tomatoes. He mixes it with the boiled dal. He separately cooks cumin and red chilli powder in hot oil and pours this tadka on top of the dal. In the end, he also prepares besan chillas and a salad. “Made a little Maharashtra-inspired spread for a friend,” reads his caption.

If your mouth is watering after watching the video, you are not the only one. Many in the comments section share the sentiment. “Bro I am from India and I can testify you know what you are doing. All the food items just look perfect,” wrote a person. Another one said, “Can’t believe this man does all these without ever being to India.” One comment read, “Omg this is insane! I’m a Maharashtrian and I feel like you created nostalgia on a plate. Batata vada, thecha.. just awesome! Your passion and effort really shows, Love it.”
