US Banker Who Punched A Woman At Pride Event, Surrenders
The video of the banker punching a protester went viral, leading Jonathan Kaye to resign from his job and surrender himself to the police.

Jonathan Kaye, a wealthy banker at Moelis & Co, made headlines after he was embroiled in a shocking incident in Brooklyn, USA. During a Pride and anti-Israel event, Kaye was caught on camera punching a woman in the face, due to which she fell and suffered injuries. The video quickly went viral, leading Kaye to resign from his job and surrender himself to the police. The 38-year-old woman, who was attacked, claimed she had a broken nose, cuts and a black eye from the assault. A report by New York Post suggests that Kaye was buying ice cream for his children when a group of six people began insulting him and even threw liquid on him, which led to the altercation.

A spokesperson to Kaye said, “He was in fear for his physical safety when he was surrounded by an angry mob of agitators who encircled him, physically assaulted him and threw unknown liquids on him. He could not identify any of these individuals and was left bloodied from the attack. Given the sharp rise in antisemitic incidents, any Jewish person in this situation would naturally feel threatened and feel the need to defend themselves and return safely to their family.”

Following his surrender, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the criminal investigation is in process. Jonathan Kaye is facing charges of assault and menacing in the third degree, misdemeanours, along with second degree harassment, classified as a violation. After appearing at Brooklyn Criminal Court, Kaye and his attorney faced angry protesters who heckled and followed them. One protester even ended up pushing and confronted Kaye on the street.

As per Kaye’s attorney, Danya Perry said, “He’s a law abiding man, a middle aged guy with zero history of violence. He was attacked by a group of violent protesters and defended himself to get home to his family. So, you know, we will be presenting more and more evidence to the DA that this was nothing more than self defense. Mr Kaye managed to act in self-defense to escape the situation and return safely to his family.”

Fox News Digital reported that the dispute started when Jonathan Kaye, who is Jewish, told protesters they were “on the wrong side” of an anti-Israel protest. Following his comment, four people from the group allegedly surrounded him and threw liquid at him, which left him agitated. Before the incident took place, Kaye worked as a managing director at Moelis & Co, a Manhattan based investment bank.
