Woman Gets Dumped By Tinder Date At Hawaii Volcano: 'I Was Stunned'
"It took a few moments to gather my thoughts," said Julia D'Orazio as she recalled her date.

Have you ever experienced heartbreak? Well, consider the unfortunate ordeal of travel writer Julia D’Orazio, who found herself ‘dumped’ near Hawaii’s volcanoes. Julia recalled how her great date with a local unexpectedly turned sour. Julia met her date Jerry via Tinder when she was in Hawaii. The duo met in downtown Kailua-Kona and instantly formed a bond. They shared similar tastes in music and were fitness enthusiasts. Julia told Jerry that she had rented a red Mustang convertible for her trip and shared a list of things she wanted to do in Hawaii.

As per a report in the New York Post, Jerry suggested that they should start with the “easiest and closest activity” on the list. They then went on a hike, tried great food at local food joints, and spent the evening at La’Aloa Bay Beach. At the end of the day, both agreed that they had a great time and promised to see each other again. Two days later they met again, but this time Julia noted that Jerry was behaving differently. She described his behaviour as, “standoffish and short, not present”. Julia asked Jerry if he was up for the day and he insisted that he would be fine and said, “Yeah, I’ll be fine. I’ll snap out of it.”

The duo had planned to go on a three-hour road trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which has two of the world’s most active volcanoes. Julia tried to cheer up Jerry, but he stayed sullen. When they reached their destination, Jerry abruptly told Julia that he was leaving and would hitchhike back to the city. He did not offer any explanation for his erratic behaviour and left.

This is when Julia realised that her ‘date’ had ‘dumped’ her at Hawaii’s active volcanoes. Recalling this moment, Julia wrote in the New York Post, “He grabbed his rucksack, and off he went, walking out of the car park, walking out of my life. My mouth became as big as a volcanic crater watching him go off into the distance. I was stunned.”

However, she soon regained her composure and went ahead with her day. She concluded, “It took a few moments to gather my thoughts. Talk about brutal dumping. Sure, I felt bad for a bit, but I soon realised it was for the best. It wasn’t about me; it was on him. I was glad that he discharged himself. Good riddance.”

What's your reaction?
