Social media is the stock house of many humorous clips where people knowingly or unknowingly indulge in antics to entertain the audience or become popular. One such video has surfaced on Instagram in which a lady is standing on a beach. She then lights a firecracker or a rocket kept under a utensil and then rushes back.
For a few seconds, there is no reaction and the woman goes near it to know the reason. The moment she steps in near the bowl, the cracker shoots up with immense force, thus throwing the utensil at the woman’s face. The utensil’s impact was so powerful that the lady collapsed on the sand, writhing in pain. As the video concludes, she can be seen crying, holding her injured chin due to the utensil’s pressure. The video’s location is not known yet. The video has garnered over 30 million views.
This clip received a heavy backlash from users who wrote that it was a fake video from a wannabe influencer and if the lady should try some other profession. One of the users also pointed out that it is not funny and the lady could have faced fractures on her face. Another called it the greatest stupidity on social media and mentioned that these clips can prompt other users to come up with the same self-harming pranks.
In a similar incident, a Tustin, California-based woman named Lana Clay-Monaghan, 35 was injured in a social media prank. Someone had covered her head with a bucket for a prank which led to Lana’s vision and hearing getting obstructed. She lost consciousness and fell on the floor. The Tustin woman said she was taken to a hospital where she was told she suffered an “acute heart issue” that caused her to pass out. She was released later that day and filed a police report.
In a statement, Tustin police said four male juveniles were seen grabbing a bucket they put over Clay-Monaghan’s head. “Several seconds later the juveniles are seen fleeing the store,” the statement read. A spokesperson for the department said that the individuals have not been identified.
