Australia’s Mitchell Starc managed to get the better of Indian opener, Shubman Gill in the World Cup 2023 finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Australian left-arm pacer managed to give the Aussies a fantastic start in the first innings as he got the better of the opener to put India under pressure.
Numbers show that Starc has faced off against the youngster Gill in ODIs four times of which the bowler conceded 38 runs in 45 balls of which Starc got him dismissed thrice.
The big finale between India vs Australia has had a dramatic start with the openers along with Shreyas Iyer departing within the first 11 overs, putting India under pressure.

Shubman Gill departed for a mere 4 runs off seven deliveries while Glenn Maxwell got the wicket of Rohit Sharma for 47 runs off 31 deliveries. Pat Cummins managed to scalp Shreyas Iyer for 18 off 33 balls.

The opening batters for India Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill bring an end to their show with the bat. The duo have had a fantastic campaign with the latter coming off dengue after the Asia Cup which put him out of action for the first two games against Australia and Afghanistan.

Despite missing out on the two games the pair also managed to close out the year by surpassing the duo of Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh for the most partnership runs scored in a calendar year. Rohit and Gill managed to put up a total of 1523 runs in partnerships for the year 2023. They surpassed the Aussie duo Gilchrist and Waugh who had a total of 1518 runs in the year 1999.
Team India will be hoping to bounce back in the game after the quick loss of wickets. All eyes will be on the pair of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul with the entire nation banking on the two to bring India to a defendable total in the World Cup finals.
