The new 100cc bike could be priced around Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000.

New Delhi: Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) will enter the high-volume entry level motorcycle segment with the launch of a 100cc bike by 2010 , which is expected to be priced at around Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000.

The company, which on Tuesday launched a new variant of its 125cc bike CBF Stunner, aims to have a bigger presence in the Indian motorcycle market with new products.

"The Indian two-wheeler market is predominantly motorcycle oriented, so we have to align ourselves according to the market," HMSI President and CEO Shinji Aoyama told reporters.

"We will be launching a completely new 100cc bike by the end of this fiscal. It will be a bit higher priced than the entry level bikes in the market now, but it will not be higher priced than the 125cc bikes," he said.

He also said the 100cc bike would not 'cannibalise' Hero Honda's products.

"I am not aiming at making big business there (in the 100cc segment). I want to satisfy people who want Honda products at that price," Aoyama said.

Currently, the 100cc segment is dominated by Hero Honda, which is a joint venture between Japanese auto major Honda and Munjals promoted Hero Group.
