Hyundai Alcazar vs Tata Safari Spec Comparison: Design, Engine, Features and More
Hyundai has launched the Alcazar in India with prices starting at Rs 16.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and one of the car's major rival is the recently-launched Tata Safari. So here's how they fair on paper.

Hyundai has launched the Alcazar SUV in India at Rs 16.30 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 7-seater Prestige variant. The Alcazar enters the Indian six and seven-seater SUV market, going against the likes of MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. Since the car is based on its younger sibling Creta with a host of differences, here are some of the differences which you can consider before taking a final call.

Hyundai Alacazar Design

Talking about the design the first thing that we can observe is a tail lamp design. If you will notice the rear tail lamp design of Creta it is a C-shaped LED running light while the Alcazar’s lights are bigger and also have a different layout for the running light. The LED strip is placed in the lower surround of the tail lamp.

Coming to the front designs, the all-new Alcazar has a similar basic design to that of Creta but what makes it different is its cascading grille. Also, inside the grille, you can observe many individual chrome pieces and even get a chrome surround whose sides integrate with the headlamps like the Creta.

Tata Safari Exterior

Tata Safari 2021 will be an extended version of the Harrier. From the front, it looks similar to the Harrier SUV, the only exception being a slightly redesigned bumper in the rear. However, there is a considerable change in the roofline and space inside the SUV — the height has been raised and the rear has more upright position, creating more space. The rear also includes new-look tail-lamps. In terms of length, the Safari is longer and taller than the Harrier by 63mm and 80mm, respectively. To keep the look distinct and different from the Harrier, the Safari will have the option of new colours.

Hyundai Alcazar Dimensions

As the Alcazar is equipped with the C-pillar it will be longer than the Creta. The longer size will enable the car to get a larger rear overhang which can accommodate the third-row of seats.

In terms of cabin amenities, infotainment and comforts, the Alcazar is available in two seating configurations. The 6-seater model includes two tip-and-tumble captain chairs in the centre row, as well as specialized armrests with cup holders, storage capacity and wireless phone charging. The centre row of the Alcazar’s seven seats is a bench type providing more space than the 6-seater variant.

Tata Safari Interiors

The new Safari’s dashboard design and interiors are similar to the Harrier. It will have an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 8.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, sunroof and push-button start. It will also have an electronic handbrake.

Hyundai Alcazar Engine

The powertrain options are likely to be carried over from the Creta which include – a 138bhp/242Nm 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol unit with a seven-speed DCT unit, a 113bhp/250Nm 1.5-litre diesel motor with six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, and a 113bhp/144Nm torque 15-litre NA petro engine with a six-speed manual and CVT gearbox.

Tata Safari Engine

When it comes to the engine, the Safari is powered by the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine like Harrier. This engine can produce 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque.
