Mahindra has announced a price hike on its XUV 3XO SUV, which debuted in April this year.
The vehicle was first priced at Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has announced the hike at a time when most other carmakers have offered steep discounts to increase sales and clear inventory before the conclusion of the festive season.
The compact SUV became a favourite of buyers since its launch. Mahindra received more than 10,000 bookings for XUV 3XO in its first week of release, and it has been a key driver of the automaker’s sales growth.
As the SUV becomes costlier, here’s a look at these five sub-compact SUVs that are strong competitors for the Mahindra XUV 3XO
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon offers a longer list of features including a five-star Global NCAP rating for security. The compact SUV has a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill assist and six airbags.
The Nexon offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 10.25-inch floating infotainment display on top of the dashboard. The centre console has a wireless charging outlet for smartphones. The car also gets automatic temperature controls, located on a touchscreen panel on the dashboard.
The SUV comes with options between a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with multiple gearbox choices.
The new-gen Tata Nexon retails at ex-showroom prices ranging between Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 14.69 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
The latest compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, Fronx packs a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, first seen in the Baleno RS. The vehicle is offered with a five-speed automated manual and a five-speed manual gearbox option. Safety features on this Maruti Suzuki offering include an ESP, a 360-degree camera, side and curtain airbags, and a hill hold assist.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which is a rebadged Toyota Taisor with a few tweaks, retails between Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom).
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Brezza is priced between Rs 8.34 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV comes in petrol and CNG options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine of Brezza is tuned to deliver 102 horsepower and 137 Nm of torque. The unit is available with manual and automatic gearboxes.
The 1.5-liter CNG engine comes with only a manual gearbox and can deliver 87 horsepower of power and 122 Nm of torque.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza offers an auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags. The list of features on the SUV includes a driver’s HUD, ambient lighting, wireless charging, auto climate control, a nine-inch touchscreen, an electric sunroof and a cooled glove box.
Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue is a compact SUV with three engine options and a price range of Rs 7.9 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The most recent version of the vehicle has 30 safety features.
Inside, the SUV sports an infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display in the centre console.
The Venue has paddle shifters, wireless charging, two-step reclining back seats, motorised seating for the driver, and interior air purification. Additionally, Hyundai added ADAS, ABS, a stability management system, and six airbags to the vehicle.
The Hyundai SUV retails at Rs 7.9 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Kia Sonet
Kia Sonet retails in India at an ex-showroom price ranging between Rs 7.9 lakh and Rs 15.7 lakh. The SUV comes with three engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.2-litre petrol engine.
The safety features of the SUV include six airbags, hill hold assist, ESC and a 360-degree camera.
This year, Kia upgraded the Sonet with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which provides front collision warning and lane-keeping assistance.
The car gets a seven-speaker Bose system, ambient LED lighting and two 10.25-inch infotainment and instrument screens.
