Track Your Green Ride Impact With Uber's 'Emission Savings' Feature
By keeping riders informed about their environmental impact, Uber aims to encourage positive change and contribute to building more sustainable communities.

Uber has rolled out a cool new feature called ‘Emission Savings’ that lets riders keep tabs on how much they’re helping the environment by riding in Uber Green vehicles.

This feature shows users exactly how many kilograms of CO2 emissions they’ve saved.

Available in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, Uber Green offers rides in all-electric vehicles. As per the Press Release, the aim is to encourage riders to make sustainable choices and raise awareness about their environmental impact.

Nitish Bhushan, Head of Central Operations at Uber India, shared, “We understand that often it is tough for people to realise exactly how much they contribute to the environment by taking a single ride in a vehicle running on sustainable energy. The scale of that impact is an important tool to have at their fingertips in order for them to make more informed decisions around sustainability in their day-to-day lives. Emission Savings is designed to do just that!”

Similar to how Uber popularized rider ratings, this feature adds a fun twist by motivating riders to be environmentally conscious and compete to reduce their CO2 emissions.

Here’s what Emission Savings lets you do:

  • Check Your Impact: Open the Uber app’s Account section and tap “Estimated CO2 saved” to see how much emissions you’ve prevented by choosing Uber Green.
  • Understand Your Savings: The feature includes graphics to illustrate what your CO2 emissions savings equate to, making it easier to comprehend your contribution.
  • Learn How It’s Calculated: Emission savings represent the estimated CO2 emissions avoided when choosing Uber Green over Uber Premier for a similar distance.

Uber is striving to become a zero-emissions mobility platform, and this feature is a significant step toward informing riders about their positive impact on the environment.
