The German car maker Volkswagen’s hot-selling and most loved product Polo will continue to be on sale till 2030 in the European market. It has been reported that the fuel-powered model will not go anywhere before the mentioned year, giving a sense of relief to all the ICE model lovers.
More Life to Volkswagen’s Polo
As per the details shared by a few publications, the company’s CEO Thomas Schafer stated that the tech-loaded model could survive for at least another five years/ He called the revised ‘EU6e’ ruleset not as crazy as it was proposed initially, giving more life span to the Polo.
Here’s What Top Official Hinted Before
Earlier in 2022, Schafer hinted that offering small cars beyond the EU7 emission norms would not make any sense as it adds somewhere around between 3000 – 5000 GBP cost to Polo. However, as the EU lowers Euro7 emission requirements, it allows Volkswagen to rule the market with Polo for a few more years in the dominating segment.
The company’s top official also indicated that the hatchback is likely to receive some noticeable updates in the future, which might attract more customers globally.
Latest Emission Norms in Europe
Meanwhile, the latest emission norms are all set to go into effect from September 1, 2024. However, the ruleset has been criticized by the top automakers, claiming that it would increase the manufacturing cost by 2,000 euros for cars and 12,000 euros for trucks & buses, making them more expensive than ever.
