A 28-year-old woman was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly attacking police officials and security staff when she was asked to leave the premises of a popular mall in the city at closing hours. The woman, who is a chartered accountant from Davanagere, had gone to the mall to catch the 10.30 pm show of a horror movie but stayed back at the mall for hours after the show ended and was found by staff around 2.30 am.
According to reports, the incident took place in the early hours of October 12. Police said the woman refused to answer questions on what she was doing at the mall and started attacking as well as abusing mall staff when they tried to convince her to leave. The woman lives at a paying guest accommodation in Koramangala and is being kept in central jail in judicial custody.
Police said the woman had gone to Nexus mall in Koramangala to watch The Nun II, but staff found her roaming inside after closing hours. She abused the staff and the mall manager when she was asked to leave, and even attacked the security officers, police added.
The mall manager then called the police, and a sub-inspector on patrol duty responded. The woman was then taken to a police station and questioned. But, even there, she tried to escape and even bit the SI’s hand when she was caught and threw her shoe at an ASI, all the while abusing the cops.
Police further said she was even asked if she wanted to lodge a complaint against the mall authorities over any trouble she may have encountered, but she continued with her aggressive behaviour despite being warned that she was being recorded.
A case was registered under sections 353, 323, 324 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, for assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty, for voluntarily causing hurt, for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means and for intentional insult. Police are now awaiting her medical test reports and an investigation is on to find out if she faced any problems when she went to the mall.
