Ganesh Chaturthi Bank Holiday: September is observing a plethora of festivals in India including Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam and Eid-e-Milad. Ganesh Chaturthi is a major Hindu festival that is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Maharashtra and across the country. It is a public holiday in the state, and banks are closed on this day.
Apart from Maharashtra, banks are also closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Panaji as Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha), Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata, and Vinayakar Chathurthi are also being observed on September 7.
There is a bank holiday in Maharashtra on September 9, 2023, which is Saturday, the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, a ten-day festival that begins on the fourth day of the waxing moon in the month of Bhadrapada. On this day, idols of lord Ganesh are brought into homes and businesses. The idols are worshipped for ten days, and then they are immersed in a river or lake on the eleventh day.

The regional offs are decided by the respective state governments.
