New Delhi: India's fiscal deficit during the April-February period was Rs 5.07 trillion, or 97.4 per cent of the budgeted full fiscal year 2012/13 target, government data showed on Thursday.
During the same period in the previous fiscal year, the deficit was 94.6 per cent of the budgetary target. Net tax receipts for April-February stood at Rs 5.7 trillion while total expenditure was Rs 12.2 trillion.
Last month, the government had projected a fiscal deficit at 5.2 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP) for the current fiscal year that ends on March 31.
