New Delhi: Leading carmaker Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) on Tuesday registered a 20.6 per cent increase in sales during September at 59,420 units as compared to 49,278 during the corresponding month in 2005.
A 22 per cent increase was seen in the domestic sales of cars at 56,334 cars as against 46,069 units during the same month in 2005.
However, MUL's export witnessed a fractional fall of 2.5 per cent at 2,814 units during September 2006 as compared to 2,885 units in the same month in 2005.
In the A1 segment, which includes Maruti 800, the company sold 7,680 units during the month, clocking a 3.5 per cent rise from 7,423 units in the corresponding month in 2005.
In the C segment of cars, including Omni and Versa, Maruti sold 7,289 vehicles this September as compared to 6,022 units last September, hence registering an increase of 21 per cent.
The company also recorded an increase of 28.9 per cent in the A2 segment, consisting of Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, and Swift, by selling 37,955 units during the month this fiscal as against 29,456 units sold during the same period last fiscal.
However, it saw a fall of 16 per cent in vehicles sales in the MUV segment, which comprises of Gypsy and Vitara.
The sales figures in this category stood at 272 units this September as compared to 324 units sold in September 2005.
In 2006, the company sold 3,02,631 units during the period of April-September as against 2,62,409 units during the same period in 2005.
