New Delhi: The markets opened the first trading day of 2007 on a good note and in line with its Asian peers on the back of buying seen in the IT, cap goods and Cement stocks.
In the first five minutes of trading at 0946 hrs IST, the Sensex was up 54 points at 13,841 and Nifty was up 12 points at 3,978.
Top gainers were TCS, Guj Ambuja, Infosys, Wipro, Siemens, BHEL, ACC and Hero Honda.
However TVS Motors, Indiabulls, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto and were the losers.

* MFs net buy Rs 677.1 crore on December 28

* NSE F&O Open Interest up by Rs 2,801 crore at Rs 41,598 crore
* Futures Open Interest up by Rs 1,625 crore; Options Open Interest up by Rs 1,176 crore
* Nifty Futures add 14.6 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty Open Interest Put-Call ratio down to 1.59 from 1.72
* Nifty Calls add 11.2 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty Puts add 11.6 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty 4000 Calls add 4.8 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty 3950 Puts add 4 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty 4100 Calls add 3.8 lakh shares in Open Interest
* Nifty 3900 Puts add 2.2 lakh shares in Open Interest
