Sensex ends 359 points up; banks lead the way
Index heavyweight Bharti Airtel extended its losses to 2.4 per cent and BHEL turned negative.

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex ended up 2.23 per cent on Thursday, to its highest close in two weeks, as coordinated action by six major central banks boosted hopes of increased fund inflows into Asia's third-largest economy.

The 30-share BSE index ended up 2.23 per cent, or 359.99 points at 16,483.45, with all but five of its components in the positive territory.

The broader 50-share NSE index closed 2.17 per cent higher at 4,936.85 points.
