New Delhi: On the assurance of the state government that it would look into the demands of reduction in taxes on diesel and petrol, the Uttar Pradesh Petroleum Traders Association (UPPTA) on Friday ended their four-day old strike.
The Association was demanding reduction in sales tax on diesel and petrol to 11 per cent and 20 per cent respectively to boost fuel sales as duties in neighbouring states such as Delhi were lower.
"On the initiative of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, we had talks with chief secretary and principal secretary, food and civil supplies. Both of them assured us to look into our demands of reducing taxes," as quoted by PTI, UPPTA President B N Shukla told reporters in Lucknow.
He said the Chief Minister, during a telephonic conversation, also assured them to look into the matter.
More than 4,000 petrol pumps across the state were closed during the four-day strike.
